HOUSTON, July 15, 2023 – The Houston Police Department has initiated an investigation into the tragic shooting of a 14-year-old boy, which occurred at 3806 Faulkner Street around 1:55 p.m. last Friday, July 14.

The identity of the young victim is currently being verified by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at the mentioned address, where they found the boy with a gunshot wound. Paramedics from the Houston Fire Department immediately transported him to a nearby hospital, where he was unfortunately pronounced deceased.

According to the preliminary investigation, the shooting appears to be an accident. The victim and another individual were reportedly handling a firearm in a bedroom when the weapon discharged. The victim was struck by the bullet. The other individual, whose identity has not been disclosed, fled the scene on foot before the arrival of the police.
