Suspect Apprehended and Charged in Connection to Fulton Street Shooting Incident

MHOUSTON, July 16, 2023 – Charges have been filed against a suspect apprehended in connection to the shooting of two men and a woman at 8724 Fulton Street around 4:20 a.m. on Saturday, July 15.

The suspect, identified as Derick M. Cole Santiago, 21, faces three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. His charges have been filed in the 176th State District Court. A booking photo of Cole Santiago is below:

Officers from the Houston Police Department responded to a shooting call at an after-hours business at the above address. Upon arrival, they discovered two men, ages 33 and 31, and a woman, age 26, suffering from gunshot wounds. The Houston Fire Department paramedics transported the victims to local hospitals, where they remain in stable condition.

According to detectives from the HPD Major Assaults and Family Violence Division, an altercation escalated into a shooting. A security guard from the bar managed to detain the suspect, Cole Santiago, who was later arrested and charged. Investigations into the incident continue.
