Houston, TX – Charges have been filed against a suspect involved in an assault case at a motel located at 5969 West Sam Houston Parkway South service road (Beltway 8). The incident occurred around 12:50 a.m. on Tuesday, July 18.

The suspect, Jaaron A. Thomas, 27, is now charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 230th State District Court.

The victim, an 18-year-old woman, was found in the motel’s parking lot with wounds to her neck and lacerations. She was promptly transported by Houston Fire Department paramedics to a local area hospital and is now in stable condition.

According to detectives from the HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division, the preliminary investigation indicates that the assault took place inside a room at the motel. They discovered another male in the room who also sustained injuries. After receiving treatment and being released from the hospital, this male was identified as the suspect, Jaaron Thomas.

Thomas was charged for his role in the incident after further investigation and consultation with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.

In an unexpected turn of events, Thomas presented himself at the HPD Southwest Patrol Station on Thursday, July 20, intending to retrieve his personal belongings. Upon his arrival, he was promptly arrested without incident by the HPD Southwest Patrol Crime Suppression Team. Thomas has since been transported to the Harris County Joint Processing Center.
