HOUSTON – (July 21, 2023) – Charges have been filed against a suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of a man at 5600 Fairdale Street about 8:55 p.m. on June 13. The suspect, Kendrick Thomas, 21, is charged with murder in the 183rd State District Court. A booking photo of Thomas, who was already in custody on unrelated charges, has been released.

Thomas had been out on bond for unlawful carrying of a weapon in a motor vehicle. A warrant was issued for his arrest on May 1, 2023, and he was subsequently charged with evading arrest on July 5, 2023. Thomas remained in jail until he was charged with murder in relation to this incident.

The victim, Jesus Hall, 23, was found unresponsive and with gunshot wounds at the scene of the shooting. Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced Hall deceased.

According to the HPD Homicide Division, a large crowd of people was attending a pool party when an argument ensued between two unknown individuals. Gunfire was exchanged between the individuals, and Hall was struck in the crossfire. Despite attempting to run from the scene, Hall collapsed and was later pronounced deceased.

The subsequent investigation identified Thomas as a suspect in the case. Detectives learned he was already in jail for an unrelated incident. Thomas was charged on Thursday (July 20) for his role in Hall’s shooting.
