HOUSTON, July 25, 2023 – A teenager has been charged with murder in connection with a fatal shooting that took place on Sayers Street earlier this year, Houston Police Department announced today.

The suspect, identified as 19-year-old Delvanon Daggs, has been charged with murder in the 179th State District Court. The victim of the shooting was identified as 22-year-old Lawrence Brazier.

According to the police report, officers responded to a shooting at 6500 Sayers Street at around 7:10 p.m. on May 29. However, upon arrival, no victim was found at the location.

Soon after, officers were informed that the victim, later identified as Brazier, had been transported by private vehicle to Lyndon B. Johnson General Hospital with a gunshot wound. From there, Brazier was taken by paramedics to Ben Taub General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on May 31.

The subsequent investigation led to the identification of Daggs as the primary suspect. A murder charge was filed against him, leading to his arrest on July 21. Daggs was taken into custody on an unrelated charge and was later booked into the Harris County Jail.
