Harris County, September 5, 2023 – Over the Labor Day holiday weekend, deputies from Constable Mark Herman’s Office conducted an impaired driver initiative aimed at reducing the number of Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) related offenses and fatal crashes within Precinct 4 boundaries. During this period, 18 suspected drunk drivers were arrested throughout the precinct.

Each driver was initially stopped for traffic violations and displayed multiple signs of intoxication. Standardized Field Sobriety Tests confirmed that they were operating vehicles while intoxicated.

Additional charges were filed against several defendants. Jose Mireles, Sandra Gallegos, Francisco Maldonado, Victor Villeda-Garica, Noe Cervantes, Johnny Aguilon, and Jose Carbajal-Flores were charged with DWI 2nd offense due to having one previous DWI conviction. Uriel Angel faced additional charges of evading in a motor vehicle, and Jose Castro was charged with failure to stop and render aid following a motor vehicle accident.

All suspects have been booked into the Harris County Jail on charges of DWI, along with any additional charges. “Drinking and driving is not tolerated in Precinct 4. If you choose to drive drunk, you choose to go to jail,” said Constable Mark Herman.
